Hokkaido University is a leading comprehensive university with 12 undergraduate schools, 21 graduate schools founded in 1876 as Sapporo Agricultural College, and will celebrate its 150th anniversary in 2026. Hokkaido University consistently ranks 1st place for Six consecutive years in Japan in THE Impact Rankings for its global contributions to the SDGs and is home to two Nobel laureates in Chemistry 2010 by Emeritus Professor Akira Suzuki and 2021 by Specially Appointed Professor Benjamin List.
