BTL Medical Technologies, one of Europe’s leading manufacturers of medical equipment, automated a part of its PCBA testing with the Test-it-off platform from KINALI to overcome the shortage of skilled testing operators and improve testing efficiency. 

Producing around 400,000 PCBAs annually, BTL operates in a High-Mix, Low-Volume environment where flexibility and precision are essential. Manual testing limited throughput and scalability, while frequent product changes required constant reconfiguration. To address these challenges, BTL implemented the modular Test-it-off platform, which automates testing, reduces manual handling, and enables autonomous operation. 

The system can run unattended for up to six hours, integrates with existing ICT and FCT testers, and provides real-time reporting and full ERP/MES connectivity for complete traceability. With fixture staging on mobile trolleys, changeovers take less than 10 minutes, and new product introductions are done easily via a no-code interface that guides operators step by step. 

Results: BTL achieved faster changeovers, shorter NPI times, and higher testing consistency while reducing operator dependency across shifts. The solution delivers stable 24/7 testing capacity, improved traceability, and measurable cost savings, strengthening BTL’s competitiveness and readiness for future growth.
