MCD Elektronik pushes AI development project

The rapid development of the digital transformation has meant that artificial intelligence, AI for short, can now also be used in the field of measurement and testing technology. Intelligent software algorithms analyse the collected measurement data to detect regularities and use them to make forecasts for the future. This enables potential errors and cost drivers to be identified, process efficiency to be increased and predictions to be developed with regard to product and inspection quality.

In order to also be able to use this key technology for test systems of MCD Elektronik GmbH, a development project was recently started which provides significant empirical values. Real-time processing of large amounts of data in the test field is offered, as well as tools for permanent condition monitoring of the measurement data and predictive maintenance. In detail, the MCD development as a service package will include the core points of trend detection through clustering, test step deviations, test sequence and parameter optimisation, as well as measurement system analysis (MSA) and statistics generation.

The upload of measurement data to MCD servers or to an existing customer cloud is done manually via an HTTPS-secured web interface and using any device. An automated data feed directly from the test system is also possible through a secure communication tunnel via VPN.

Stored data sets are permanently analysed on the AI platform in order to identify patterns and thus future problems. Individually requested on-demand analyses of measured values, variances or MSA data are also possible. AI-generated analyses and optimisation proposals are then subsequently evaluated by MCD's measurement technology specialists together with the customer and processed for the following test processes.
